One of the most significant tournaments on the international football calendar, the AFC Asian Cup 2023 is all set to start this week. Originally scheduled to be played in June and July last year, the competition had to be postponed after China decided not to host the AFC Asian Cup following the COVID-19 pandemic and due to its zero-COVID policy. Having successfully organised the FIFA World Cup in 2022, Qatar will now be aiming to defend their AFC Asian Cup title in their backyard. In the AFC Asian Cup 2023 opener, hosts Qatar will be up against Lebanon on Friday, January 12 at the Lusail Stadium.
